Dorothy Mae Harwick Lee slipped away from this earth into the arms of her Lord on April 8, 2011. She was 86. She was born November 7, 1924 to Kenneth James and Edith Maestling Harwick in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dorothy was a graduate of Roy Miller High School. During her lifetime, she was a resident of Corpus Christi and Aransas Pass.
She worked as a switch board operator and bookkeeper in different businesses in Corpus Christi before retiring. She loved music and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She also loved working with children and taught Sunday school at Gardendale Baptist Church. Dorothy was a member of Gardendale Baptist Church and Brighton Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Edna (Molly) Sparks Harwick of Rockport, Texas; nephew, Kenneth Louis (Jeanne) Harwick, Jr. of Santa Fe, Texas; niece, Mellinee Harwick of Rockport; great nephews and nieces, David (Kelli) Nesloney, Jr. and Stephen Harwick both of Rockport, Texas, Collin (Terry) Cassel of Ingleside, Texas, Amy (Paul) McLemore of Santa Fe, Texas and Katie (Bryan) Standefer of Houston, Texas; five great-great nieces and many friends.
A special thanks to Corpus Christi Nursing and Rehabilitation Center nurses aides, and doctors for their care the last three and one half years. Also thanks to Grady Jackson and Carol Kirkpatrick for their special friendship and care through the years.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Memory Gardens. Entombment will be at Memory Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brighton Park Baptist Church Building Fund, 3418 Airline Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78414 or a charity of one’s choice.
