cardiac arrest. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on December 17, 1957. He is preceded in death by
his father: Donnie Farrell Rains, his uncles: Odie Darrell Rains, & Rocky Lee Rains, & his aunt: Paulette
Rains. He is survived by his wife of 39 years: Peggy Dianne Rains of Orange Grove, Texas, his mother: Tresa
Ann Rains of Corpus Christi, Texas, his brother: Brandon Wade Rains (Tammy) of Bishop, Texas, his uncle:
Thomas Lamb of Comfort, Texas, his Step son: Sean Wilson (Jessica) of Kirby, Texas, his 3 step grandchildren
and one step great grandchild, as well as various other close relatives and friends.
Donnie attended Mary Caroll High School, where he was enrolled in FFA and actively participated in the
Nueces County Livestock Show. He was also a member of the Texas Youth Rodeo Association while
attending high school. He was competitive in bareback bronc and bull riding. Upon graduating in 1977,
he was employed as a heavy equipment operator for many years in the oilfield and construction trade.
Donnie was an avid sportsman & for many years he routinely attended the Thursday night skeet shoot @
the Corpus Christi Pistol and Rifle Club where he was a regular (usually in the company of his father and
mentor Donnie Farrell Rains). He spent most of his free time hunting or fishing in the brush and bays of
south Texas. Donnie was truly one of a kind. He was old school (cut from the old stone) and unapologetic
about it! They simply do not make men like him anymore. He never met a stranger and was loved by all
who had the opportunity to know him. There is a vast, long list of people who called him friend, whose
hearts have been touched by Donnie and will forever be left void of his presence. There will be no services
and the family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the non-profit of
your choice.
