Our beloved, Devon Jordan King, 20, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on May 18th, 2023. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to proud parents Brent King and Bonnie Landry on May 29th, 2002. He attended Tuloso Midway High School and graduated from West Oso High School.
Devon was known to his family and friends as a strong protector and nurturer. He was described as always putting others first before his own needs. He was wholeheartedly there for those in his life.
Devon had a passion for basketball, fishing and music. In 2019 Devon helped take West Oso basketball team to regionals. He traveled around the country playing AAU basketball teams. He was most proud playing for the Corpus Christi Bombers coached by his dad. His mom described him as “our NBA star”.
He was known as a sharp dresser taking pride in his clothes and shoes. He always made family, friends and even strangers laugh. Picturing him in our minds we can see him laughing and smiling as he always did with his contagious “big cheesy smile”.
Devon never knew a stranger; always socializing and would talk to anyone. He was outgoing and very loud, soft hearted but strong, calm but never sat still.
There are no words to express how grateful and blessed we are to all who loved him in his life. His legacy will carry on forever reminding us to be strong and kind to anyone who needs our friendship.
Devon cherished his relationship with girlfriend, Jasmine Pena who he loved with the biggest part of his heart. Jasmine was the love of his life who he laughed, loved, sang, and lived his life for. She was his first and only love and the only devoted love he knew. Jasmine will forever be his earthly angel.
Devon is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Frank Roher; maternal great-grandmother, Anna Jean Followell; and paternal grandmother, Sharon King.
Devon’s memory lives on through his mother, Bonnie Landry; father, Brent King (Amanda Grant); step-mother, Amanda Grant; siblings, Donaven Landry, Kaylee King, Brooklyn King, and Kaiden King; maternal grandparents, Clay and Deanna Taylor; paternal grandfather, Winston King.
Devon will be truly missed and will never, ever, be forgotten.
