Delia Castro Garza, 74, returned to her heavenly home on January 4, 2016 after a valiant battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and her belief in God sustained her and ultimately gave her peace. Delia was born to the late Raul Castro and Anastasia Alaniz Castro in Corpus Christi, Texas on April 1, 1941. She embraced her Catholic faith that would be her lifelong strength, and was a dedicated member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic community. In June 2015, she was honored for her many years of service to the Church by receiving the Diocese of Corpus Christi Evangelii Gaudium (Joy of the Gospel) Recognition, presented by Most Reverend William Michael Mulvey. Delia was blessed with a large and loving family and friends. On December 31, 1961, she married her best friend Anastacio Garza, Jr. Together they had two daughters. They shared a full life with extended family and friends, and joyful travel. In 1999, Delia retired after 20 years of loyal service with the U. S. Social Security Administration. Delia is survived by her husband, Anastacio; her two daughters, Nora Jean Ortiz and Noelia Ann (John) Echols; her grandsons, Michael Anthony (Gloria) Ortiz, Blake Darby Echols and Garrett Darby Echols; her great grandsons, Michael Anthony Ortiz, Jr., Isaac Anastacio Ortiz, and Garbriel Adelio Ortiz; sister, Maria Rita (Juan) Saenz; and brothers, Raul (Annie) Castro, Jr. and David (Martha) Castro. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Palmira Castro (Larry) Tanner. Visitation will be held at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 3513 Cimarron Blvd., Corpus Christi, Texas on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. with Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2016 with Funeral Mass Celebrated at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Corpus Christi, with a reception to follow interment, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church Parish Hall. Michael Anthony Ortiz, Blake Darby Echols, Garrett Darby Echols, Davie Warren Castro, Paul David Castro and Guadalupe Lee Saenz will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Ernest B.
