He graduated from Roy Miller High School and Del Mar College. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged on September 4, 1957.
He loved nothing more than spending time with family and singing karaoke at local restaurants with his wife and friends. He worked for the City of Corpus Christi Public Utilities for 17 years and also was employed for First Christian Church. David will be dearly missed by family and friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Guadalupe and Samuel Gomez and his sisters, Katarina Villarreal, Esther Gomez and Isabel Medina.
He leaves many behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 54 years, Maria Angelina Padron Gomez; a son, David (Hope) Gomez, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas and a daughter, Mary Amelia (Alan) Foust of Johnstown, PA; his grandchildren, David Gomez, III and Jennifer Gomez of Corpus Christi Texas and Alaina and Ethan Foust of Johnstown, PA; one great-granddaughter, one step-granddaughter, April Trevino and two step-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; also two sisters-in-law, Maria “Connie” Flores of Corpus Christi, Texas and Mary Gomez of Tularosa, New Mexico.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel-549 Cheyenne with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm that same evening.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 12:30 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1308 Comanche St. with interment to follow at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Rd.
Pallbearers will be his nephews: Roland Flores II, James Grigsby, Joseph Elizalde, David Medina, his grandson, Ethan Foust and his compadre, Robert Martinez, Sr. Special Thank You to the Staff and nurses of Angel Bright Hospice for the care they gave our Dad.
