Daniel Ray Richardson, age 75, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on July 27, 2024. He was born on September 25, 1948 to parents Leonard Dee and Sallie Sue Richardson and was a lifelong resident of Corpus Christi.
Dan graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1968 and, after being drafted into the United States Army at the end of 1970, he married the love of his life, Sandra Elaine Vance, on May 11, 1971. The couple spent the first year of their marriage in Berlin, Germany, where Dan was stationed, then returned home the following year. After being Honorably Discharged, Dan spent the next 10 years working in food sales until he was hired to work in inventory control at the Corpus Christi Army Depot. He spent the next 20 years working at CCAD until his retirement in 2010.
Dan and Sandy were happily married for over 53 years and had two beautiful children. Dan was baptized at Windsor Park Church of Christ in 1976 and remained a faithful Christian believer his entire life. It was this aspect of his life that led him to be a man who was always willing to help others, friends and strangers alike.
Dan loved sports his entire life. He played football for the Ray Texans, then later on he played City League softball with his church softball team for several years, then moved on to golf, which he played for many years. Dan also loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, canoeing and hiking.
Dan will always be remembered for his friendliness, his humility, his love of family and his ability to make people laugh.
Dan is now reunited with his parents, Leonard Dee and Sallie Sue Richardson. He leaves his memories to his beloved wife, Sandra Elaine Richardson, their children, Rebecca S. (Karl) McCord and Matthew W. Richardson, three grandchildren, and a sister, Vicki Dee Marshall, as well as many friends and extended family.
The Richardson family would like to extend their gratitude to Arasely Campos and her staff at Amazing Grace Private Senior Home and to Gentiva Hospice for their gentle and loving care of Dan through his final months of life.
