He was preceded in death by both of his parents; brother, Israel B. Perez; sister, Antonia Garza; sister, Josefa Vargas; and brother, Donicio Perez.
Damasio is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Gloria Perez; seven children, Damasio Perez, Jr. (Janie), Rudolfo Perez (Maria), Catarino Perez (San Juanita), Alma Gloria Felan (Juan), Freddie Perez (Cathy), Michael Perez (Christina) and Megan Garcia; 25 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; brothers, Guillermo Perez and Alejo Perez, Jr., both of Hebbronville; uncle, Filomino Perez; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
Damasio was a loving and caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed by everyone that knew him, especially his family. He was a devoted family man and had a very strong devotion to his faith and church. He worked in Hebbronville and Chapman Ranch for many years. He retired after 32 years of service with Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital as the Head Custodian in the housekeeping department. He was well known for his sense of humor and his love of the outdoors, which included hunting.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, February 28, 2010, at 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. that evening. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 1, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The Perez family wishes to give special thanks to Bay Area Hospital, The Heart Hospital, and Angel Bright Hospice Center for the care given to Damasio during his illness.
