Blanca Mireles Vasquez passed away peacefully at home on September 20th. surrounded by her loving family at the age of 90. She was born in Kenedy, Texas on November 4th. 1931. Her family moved to Falfurrias, Texas where she graduated from high school and was a cheerleader and band member. She also played piano. Her family moved to Corpus Christi in 1963.
Blanca was very active in her community and after raising her family she was involved in politics, was always up on current events, and served as an election official for several years. She sang in the choir at Holy Family Catholic Church. She also served on the activities committee at the Garden Senior Center in Corpus Christi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Celia Mireles, a brother Armando Mireles, her husband Andres Vasquez Jr., and a son Andres Vasquez III. She is survived by brothers Gilbert (Dolores) Mireles and Raul Mireles, daughters Irma (Billy) Fletcher of Sicily Island, Louisiana, Leticia (Michael) Sabala and Melinda (Joe) Garza, of Corpus Christi, son Gilberto (Soñia) Vasquez of Arlington, Texas and daughter-in-law Sylvia A. Vasquez. She had 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Public visitation will be on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 5pm until 9:30pm at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly, 3442 Holly Road Corpus Christi, Tx with a rosary to be recited at 7pm that same evening.
Rites of a Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church,3502 Saratoga, 3502 Saratoga Blvd, Corpus Christi, Tx. 78415.
Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 2731 Comanche St., Corpus Christi, Tx. 78408
