As an aunt and great-aunt, she is survived by her extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Born on November 18, 1919, her parents were Octavio and Rosa Reyes. The only girl of four children, she is preceded in death by her three brothers whom she adored. They were Joseph and his wife, Carol; Antonio (Tony) and his wife Geraldine; and Alberto.
She married Rodger Thomas on March 10, 1943, and lovingly called him “Thomas.” He has since passed.
Beatrice loved her extended Corpus Christi family. She enjoyed many holidays at the homes of her cousins—
Lloyd Askey and his wife Florence; and her cousin Lois Drake.
Beatrice lived during some of the worst times in history for people of color. That being said, she remained strong and good-hearted.
She was upbeat and inspired by the lives and careers of her nephews, nieces and their families. She thought often and lovingly of: Larry and Billye Rayes; Juanita (Reyes) and Charles Fisher; Bruce and Renee Reyes; Tony and Billie Reyes; Ronny and Mary Reyes; Judy Reyes; Delbert Reyes; Stephen and Risa (Reyes) Martyn; Joey Reyes and Jenn Newell; Renee and Rex Reyes, and Joseph and Christine Reyes.
Known for her sharp mind and quick wit, Beatrice had an insatiable curiosity and was an avid reader. She was wise beyond her years—and will be missed.
