She was born in Alice Texas, on August 23, 1938 to parents Albert August Pakebusch and Annie Munich Pakebusch.
Barbara graduate from William Adams High School in the year 1956.
She was married to James William Bixler on August 28, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alice, Texas.
Barbara worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, until her marriage in 1968.
Barbara operated her own in home day care for over 25 years. She continued contacts up until her illness.
She was a proud member of the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, Women of the Church Elided Temple, Daughters of the Nile. Barbara would sew items for Shriners Children’s Hospital her association with The Ladies of Al Amin Shrine’s Board of Director from 2010 through 2016.
Barbara had a special love for her family, babies, toddlers, just children in general. She loved reading and gardening. She had a passion for the activities with The Women of the Church ladies. The many conventions concerning The Texas Shrine Association and Shriners International. Barbara was known for her bright smile and sweetness.
We will always cherish over 50 years of Pakebusch Family Reunions and the love of family.
She is preceded in death by her parents Annie Pakebusch and Albert August Pakebusch; brothers, Rayfield Pakebusch, Joe Pakebusch, Ralph Pakebusch, James Pakebusch, Jimmy Pakebusch and Glen Pakebusch, and sister, Buelah Mae Lindekugel.
She is survived by her husband James William Bixler, and her children Brenda Mae Bixler, Lori Ann Sowders, James William Bixler Jr. Barbara’s memories will be forever loved and cherished by her five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. They will forever adore her as their Meme.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Michelle Martinez and Elizalbeth Sellers, Chaplain Matthew at Harbor Hospice. The many doctors and nurses at Corpus Christi Medical Center. Pastors Jonathon Lys and Robert Lim. Gracie Coolie, Paula Campbell and nieces Carrie Pakebusch, and Mary Ann Pakebusch.

A visitation for Barbara will be held Friday, August 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, followed by a funeral service & eulogy at 2:00 PM.
