The son of Marcelo and Luz Perez, Aurelio was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, on May 3rd, 1929. He enlisted in the Marine Corps at the age of 19 and served in the Korean War. Service remained a core part of Aurelio's life, and he remained dedicated to serving those around him for the remainder of his life.
Aurelio is survived by his wife Audelia; children, Suzette and Richard; and brothers and sisters, Ricardo Perez, Beatriz Gomez, and Ernestina Ellis. He will be reuniting with his daughter, Sandra; and brothers, Alonzo, Benito, Jorge, Norberto, and Marcelo. Aurelio left an immeasurable impact on everyone he met, and he will remain in their thoughts long after his departure.
Services honoring Aurelio’s life will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415
Public Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00.
The Marine Corps League, Coastal Bend Detachment # 430 will do the Fallen Marine Honors at 10:15 am at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service immediately following.
Interment will be at 1:00 PM at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, Texas. Marines from the Inspector-Instructor Staff of Carlos Company, 1stBn, 23rd Marines, Corpus Christi, TX will render full military honors.
Pallbearers who served or were close acquaintances include:
