Anna was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church’s congregation where she was recognized as a pillar of the community and won flowers almost every year for having the “Most Children” on Mother’s Day. She enjoyed watching the Catholic channel, praying the rosary, and in between would catch a Spurs game when the Big 3 played. She loved having visits with family for merienda, as sweet bread and conversations were the highlight of her days. She called her loved ones regularly, remembered the family’s birthdays and celebrations, and made sure to pray for every person she knew and anyone who needed it.
She was preceded in death by husband, Raul F. Benavidez; siblings, Margil “Tito” (Mary) Espinoza, Guadalupe (James) Canedo, Manuel Espinoza, Pedro (Carmen) Espinoza, Jose (Minnie) Espinoza, Cruz Espinoza, Elisa (Joe) Bordayo; and daughter, Priscilla Rojas.
She was survived by her children, Hector (Irene) Benavidez, Roy Benavidez, Richard (Blanca) Benavidez, Ruben (Mary Ann) Benavidez, John (Kim) Benavidez, Mary (George Jr.) Robles, Sandra (Herminio Jr.) Galvan, Michael (Cynthia) Benavidez, Patricia (Mark) Trevino, Laura (John) Garcia, and Carol Sly; 31 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She now joins her husband watching lovingly over her family. Visitation will be held at 5pm - 8pm on Wednesday August 31st, 2022 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with Rosary beginning at 7:00 pm. A commemorative Mass will be held for her at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 710 S. 19th Street, Corpus Christi, TX, on September 1, 2022 followed by a burial at 11:15 am at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
