Amalia L. Marez

Amalia L. Marez, 83, was called home to her heavenly Father on October 18, 2015. Amalia was born in Beeville, Texas, to Servando C. Laurel and Gerturde Wilson Laurel. They moved to Corpus Christi in the early 1940’s. She met her husband Martin Marez in 1950. They married on June 9, 1951. She was a beautician by trade and also baby sat for numerous teachers in the Tuloso-Midway District up to the age of 75. She was recently preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Martin E. Marez on October 10, 2015.She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter Mary Marez Gurule and grandson Martin Edward Gurule. Survivors include her two daughters Frances De Leon and Linda Rodriguez (Gilbert); five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Also four sisters and three brothers. She loved doting on her children and grandchildren; whom she was devoted to. She was a woman of strong faith. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
