Adela G Gonzales

Adela G. Gonzales passed away on February 13, 2014 at the age of 84. She was born on February 8, 1930 to Reymundo and Cipriana Gomez in Laredo, TX. Adela wrote poetry and music and played the guitar. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Yolanda and Norman Shumate and granddaughter, Lynnette Medina.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Yvonne (Rick) Perez and Alfredo (Maria) Medina Jr.; grandchildren, Yvette Veltkamp, Alfredo (Dora) Medina III, Jeannette Medina, Stephen Shumate, Monica Shumate Hill, Gloria Shumate Goodin, Melissa Shumate Barron, Ann (Gary) Zellers, Jessica Perez, Erin Perez, Derrick (Marcella) Perez and Andrew Perez. Adela also leaves behind 27 great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.

The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Funeraria del Angel, 549 Cheyenne from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Alfredo Medina, Jr., Alfredo Medina III, Derrick Perez, Alfredo Medina IV, John J. Veltkamp, Jr., and Brandon Medina.
