Shyamala Lal was born on May 5, 1947 in Hyderabad, India, the fourth of six children of Dr. P. Ramchander & Tara Bai. She suddenly and unexpectedly passed away at home on November 28, 2019 in Newport Beach, California at the age of 72. After completing her Bachelor's degree in History, Politics, & Economics in Hyderabad, she married Dr. Dheeraj Lal and immigrated to the United States in 1971. In America, Shyamala devoted her life to her family and raising her three children. She was a devoted wife and mother with a quiet and calming strength that held the family together. Her family was her world. Shyamala was a loving soul who connected easily with anyone who crossed her path, leaving them with a feeling of warmth and care. She had a variety of interests including cooking, gardening, taking long walks, listening to music, and playing cards. She also enjoyed and was skilled in sewing, decorating, and many forms of arts and crafts. Shyamala is survived by her husband Dr. Dheeraj Lal of Newport Beach, California, her daughter Manju Lal of Newport Beach, California, her son Ashwini Lal of Pasadena, California, her brother Sushil Chander of Hyderabad, India, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Shyamala will be held on Sunday, December 8 from 10am-12pm at Pacific View Mortuary (3500 Pacific View Dr, Corona Del Mar, CA) with a private service for family immediately following. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation be made in memory of Shyamala to either Doctors Without Borders or Habitat for Humanity.
