From her formative years growing up on Bedford St as the eldest of nine children, Norma became one of the founders of Cornwall Gravel and Grant Ready Mix, as well as President of Cartwave Realty. She volunteered for over 50 years with the Canadian Cancer Society and was a long-time volunteer for Meals On Wheels. Norma nurtured strong family bonds with her gentleness, determination, generosity, and her caring nature, and passed these traits on through the next three generations of her family. Hugs were always the highlight of each of her days, but she also enjoyed travelling; coffee and bridge with her sisters and friends; spending time in her flower gardens; and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Norma was the beloved wife of the late Lionel Grant. Cherished mother of Susan Alguire (Dave) and David Grant (Carole), both of Cornwall; Cathy Grant (Michelle) of Summerstown; and Peter Grant (Tammie) of Cornwall. Proud grandmother of Crystal, Angie, Allison, Doug, Jason, Jennifer, Chelsea, Jordan, Laurel, Alec, and Seth; and great grandmother of Shane, Matthew, Andrew, Logan, Parker, Kali, Ollie, Calla, Zach, Anna and Holly. Loving sister of Boyd Stephenson (Ethel) of Brockville; Edna Blakely (late Barry), Winona Johnston (late Borden), Mavis Riddell (late Gordon), and Ann Branch (Don), all of Cornwall. Predeceased by her parents Leslie and Ruby (nee Watson) Stephenson; and her siblings Carl (Marian) of Calgary, Elaine Bateman (Robert) of Cloyne, and Myra Collins (late Don).
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to LAHAIE AND SULLIVAN, CORNWALL FUNERAL HOMES WEST BRANCH 20 Seventh St West (613-932-8482). A celebration of life will be held privately, with interment at St Lawrence Valley Cemetery. The family wish to invite you view the Celebration of life live or on replay at ( https://funeraweb.tv/diffusions/53815 ). As Norma was a long-time volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society, donations to this organization or Carefor Hospice Cornwall in her memory would be appreciated by the family.
