Liette also considered Joan MacDonald to be her third daughter and Lucas Schmidt as a grandchild.
Liette passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Cornwall Community Hospital.
She lived most of her life in Cornwall, other than a few years in Ottawa where she studied to become an RNA. She had a true gift to work with the elderly as she was soft spoken, attentive, kind, and patient. Liette was a beautiful person inside and out who loved to laugh. She was an amazing hostess and loved welcoming friends and family into her home. A lifelong Cat lady, she had a great love for animals, and was known to care for many stray cats. Her enjoyable activities included water skiing, alpine skiing, tennis, pickle ball, time in the pool and line dancing. One of her many gifts included having a green thumb. Her flowers, plants and garden always flourished. She was known as a very thoughtful person who never forgot any one’s birthday. Although she was dealt many challenges throughout her life , such as countless medical issues, she chose to move through the world with love and kindness. She was a proud person and never left the house without being very well dressed, with earrings, hair styled and a bit of lipstick.
Yet if we would surmise who Liette truly was…it would include two words MOM and MAMIE. Many could learn from her, as she knew how to deeply love and care for her daughters and grandchildren. No matter what, she placed their needs and wants above her own or anyone else. She was simply the BEST!!
