Charlene Marguerite Sonier

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Charlene Mary Marguerite Sonier, beloved wife of Bill for 42 years, who peacefully passed away at Southbridge Long Term Care in Cornwall on December 3, 2024.

Charlene will be profoundly missed by her loving husband Bill, brothers Danny (Myrtle), Kevin (Nancy), Darrell (Trevor), Kenneth, Mark (Kim), and her devoted sister Karen Ann (Brian). She will also be dearly missed by her sons Michael (Shemeka) and Jeff (Pattie), her cherished grandchildren Grace, Robyn, Amaya, and Alita, as well as many nephews and nieces.

A graduate of the New Brunswick Institute of Technology, Charlene enjoyed a long and successful career in banking, rising to the role of Certified Financial Planner and Branch Manager in Moncton, Belleville, and Cornwall. Revered by her clients, one customer remarked, “I loved being her client. She made me a lot of money because she was so good at what she did. She would just say, ‘Let’s try this.’ Friendly to a fault, Charlene had a magnetic personality that drew people to her, but she was quick to rebuke when she felt someone was not being genuine.”

After retiring in 2015 at the age of 63, Charlene devoted her energy to her other passions, including gardening, working out, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. I taught her to run, and our neighbors would often smile and say, “There go Charlene and Bill, heading to the running trail.”

Though she was taken from us far too soon, I will forever cherish the time we spent together and will always remember my beautiful “doll.”

A celebration of her life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
