Betty Talley

A Celebration of Life Service for Betty Jane Mayfield Talley, 76, is set for 2:00 pm Sunday at Holly Baptist Church with Bro. John Boler officiating and Eddie Joe Davis doing the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Holly Baptist Church Cemetery. A Family and Friends Gathering will be Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and Sunday from 12:30 pm to service time all at Holly Baptist Church.

Mrs. Talley left this world for her Heavenly home, November 20, surround by a her family at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born August 13, 1948 to the late Mary Jewel Sims and Charles Wastine Mayfield. She was a lifelong member Holly Baptist Church where she served until her illness prevented her from doing so.

A respiratory therapist by trade, she spent the majority of her life helping people who needed it most. Mrs. Talley devoted 16 years to Magnolia Regional Health Center before retiring. She was an avid gardener who loved the outdoors and canning the fruits of her labor with her beloved sister. Her adventurous side took her to exploring the wilderness and great outdoors that was Alaska, where she found happiness in the mountains, glaciers, and the overall beauty of God’s creation. The real joy of her life was her family. Mrs. Talley was the loving mother of four children, who she raised on her own and was extremely proud. Her life revolved around those she loved. Mrs. Talley was the epitome of a grandmother who gave nothing but unconditional love. Her grandbabies and great-grandbabies were the lights of her life and her biggest joys. She was always reading and willing to share how proud she was of each and every one of them.

Welcoming Mrs. Talley home was her husband, Thomas Talley, her parents, her brother, Charles Mayfield, her sisters, Mary Smith and Linda Mayfield.

She is survived by her four children, Gene Johnson (Melanie), Chris Johnson, David Johnson (Kelly), and Angela Davis (Eddie Joe), grandchildren, Kaley Winter (Ryan), Ragan Johnson, McKinley Stewart (Daniel), Mallory Dye (Justin), Cayce Johnson, Josh Johnson, Jilli Johnson, Carlie Johnson, Jack Johnson, Chloe Johnson, and Jake Johnson, great-grandchildren, Zeppelin Winter, Sophie Lambert-Dye, Phoenix Winter, Adalaide Jane Stewart, Willow Dye, Collins Stewart, Luke Johnson, Maggie Winter, Riggs Dye, Cayson Drew Dunn, Wrennyn Stewart, and Ayden Tate Dunn, her sister Gail Skelton, her brother, Jerry Mayfield (Mavis), and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
