Peggy Deyak, age 58, died on October 6, 2023, at her home in Coral Springs, Florida. Peggy had bravely fought a long battle with multiple health conditions, and her strength will continue to surpass the expectations of every medical provider whose care she was under.
Peggy is survived by her four children, Ashley Forlenza, Emily Forlenza, Faith Forlenza and James Forlenza, her fiancée Joel Allen, and her former husband of 24 years Paul Forlenza. She is also survived by her siblings, Christina Lucas, Kathleen Taylor (John Taylor), William Deyak, Jr. (Kathleen Deyak), Warren Deyak (Anna Maria Deyak), and many nieces, nephews and their children. She is predeceased by her parents William Deyak, Sr. and Nellie Deyak (Sehlmeyer) as well as her brother, James Deyak.
Peggy was born on September 08, 1965, in Staten Island, New York to parents William Deyak, Sr. and Nellie Deyak. Ms. Deyak is a graduate of the State University of New York as well as the Funeral Service Education Department of Miami Dade College. She worked as the office manager at the office of Dr. Leila Morris and will be remembered as someone who always went above and beyond what was required of her. Her work ethic and commitment to her education were beyond compare.
In her spare time, Peggy enjoyed running the gift shop at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church as well as facilitating Emmaus retreats in her parish. She is a lifetime member of Girl Scouts of United States of America and earned the First Class Girl Scout award, which she received in a ceremony at Windows on the World in the World Trade Center. She also loved plants, and her
daughter often remarked that the oxygen saturation in their home was always over 100% due to the dozens of plants she kept indoors. Peggy adored animals, and often referred to her home as the “Ark” because of the many different pets she had adopted throughout her life.
Peggy was an outstanding member of the community, an active member of the church, and above all, a phenomenal mother and friend. She touched every life she entered, and she will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations of food or gift cards to the St. Andrew’s Catholic church outreach pantry and the Men’s Club, to assist with the annual upcoming community Thanksgiving dinner, which feeds 1500+ people.
