Errol "Bossman" L Suba

Born August 11, 1947, in Blackness, Jamaica to Alpheus and Clarabelle (Sirjue) Suba. He grew up in Westmoreland, Jamaica, where he attended Grange Hill Primary School and Manning’s High School until going on to Mico Teacher’s College from 1966 to 1969. During this time, he met the love of his life, Lillet (Sheila) Josephs. Their romance began with a date to see his favorite movie, “The Sound of Music.” He and Sheila married on August 24, 1974. He taught Industrial Arts at Savannah-La-Mar Secondary School and Grange Hill High School. He and Sheila then moved to Kingston, Jamaica where he taught at Normal Manley Secondary school until moving to Brooklyn, New York in 1977. Shortly after, they welcomed their only daughter, Oneith, on January 30, 1978. Finally, they settled in South Florida in 1981. At the time of his passing, Errol and Sheila lived with Oneith and her family in Parkland, Florida. Here, he spent his final years spoiling his grandchildren, watching football with his son-in-law, toiling in his workshop, tending to his sugar cane and making favorite meals like chicken foot soup or curried pumpkin with shrimp.

Errol, also known as Bossman, wore many hats in an effort to provide a better life for his family. He worked at American Express until retiring in 2003. He sold Fuller Brush products, he had a jewelry business, a pool cleaning business and a pressure cleaning business. All his businesses bore the same name: “LEO’s.” An acronym he created using his, his wife’s and his daughter’s initials that simultaneously represented his zodiac sign “Leo the Lion”. His entrepreneurial spirit was matched by his many talents. Errol was a natural handyman who always had the right tool for the job. Whether it was reconstructing a 1978 Dodge Charger from just the frame that he named “The Flying Machine”, repairing old bikes, or building step stools for his friends and family. No job was too big or too small. He also enjoyed various games throughout his life. As a boy he played cricket and enjoyed watching soccer. As a man he turned to more cerebral games like Scrabble, Crossword Puzzles and Solitaire, but nothing brought him more joy than to give a 6-Love in Dominoes.

These hands touched more than tools they touched many hearts. Errol loved being surrounded by his family and friends. He was notorious for bumping into friends everywhere he went and made an effort to talk to everyone. He had an incredible sense of humor and loved to tell a good story or a joke. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious laugh, and his kind and compassionate spirit.

Above all, his devotion to his Lord and Savior was one of his greatest attributes. His journey of faith started at George’s Plain Presbyterian Church in Jamaica where he would preach on occasional Sundays. Then brought him to his current church family at North Creek Presbyterian Church in Coconut Creek, Florida where he served as Deacon for life. He read his bible daily and loved to listen to old hymns. Errol was an example of what it is to be a Christian, always with a welcoming smile, a warm hug, helping whoever and wherever he could.

Errol was preceded in death by his brother, Trescot and his Sister, Alric Lindo (Pet). He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Lillet (Sheila), his daughter, Dr. Oneith O. Cadiz and her husband, Lucas, two grandsons, Alexandre and Aiden, his granddaughter, Elorre and his sister, Cecile Fung, of Canada. Also of mention are his nieces and nephews as well as numerous cousins, that he considered to be like brothers and sisters.

To all of Errols family and friends, once the restrictions of the Corona Virus that is plaguing our country subsides, there will be a Memorial Service for him at North Creek Presbyterian Church in Coconut Creek, Florida. Please check this website for future updates.
