David Durrett Lewis, age 75, died in the Lord’s peace on February 12, 2019 in Coral Springs, Florida. Son of David Ernest Lewis and Leah Barbara Scarpetta (both deceased), and brother of Steven Matthews Lewis (deceased), he was born on July 28, 1943 in Santiago, Chile.
He was a graduate of the Pio XII School in Cali, Colombia, as well as Georgetown University and the University of Michigan. An honorable man of high integrity and exceptional ability, he had passion and strength for all who were fortunate to know him. Whether it was in his professional life as an international businessman, or in his personal life as a genealogical researcher, David enjoyed many successes and forged many enduring friendships.
He was a dedicated husband to his loving wife of 50 years, Judith Ann (née Kaufman). Together, they raised three adoring children; predeceased by his eldest daughter, Christine Arianne and survived by his son, David Durrett, Jr, and youngest daughter, Melanie Elizabeth.
A funeral mass will be held February 28, 2019 at 11 a.m., at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Coral Springs.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Equine Assisted Therapies of South Florida.
