  I can’t believe that tomorrow is the day we lay you to rest.  I know that you are tearing it up in Heaven and making everyone laugh because that’s what u do. Big Al, 
             It's so hard to believe you are really gone as I can still hear your voice (it's laughing) and can still clearly see your great big happy smile!
I have fond memories of you officiating my wedding in the hot Florida sun with us all melting in the heat. No one could have done it better :) Another great memory was when we got stuck on the boat and me and Carinda had to push us out but we couldn't stop laughing. You may be gone now but you will surely never be forgotten...

Breaks my heart to hear the news that you are gone. You were my mentor, my buddy, my example, and my good friend. Over the years we shared many experiences that I will forever remember and cherish. Even through the tough times you always kept a smile on your face and a joke in your heart. Always there to provide a kind word of encouragement when the times got tough. Al hugs like a Bear and has a heart of a Lion. There are 3 words that come to mind when we think of Al;  passionate, loving and comedian. Our memories of yesterday will last a lifetime.

To Uncle Al:

Uncle Al is my Godfather and he holds a special place in my heart. When I was 19 I lived with Uncle Al for a few months shortly after he left CBS. I remember this time fondly and speak of it often. Uncle Al always imparted wisdom freely. I remember our talks during this time and the many, many words of wisdom I received from him. A few stand out above others. “You can work now and play the rest of your life, or play now and work the rest of your life.” “There’s an acorn on the ground, what do you see? Not a tree. See the forest.” And my favorite, “If you pick up a pile of shit and throw it against the wall, shit’s gonna slide down. But if you keep picking up shit and throwing it, sooner or later, shit’s gonna stick.” I can still hear his voice and see his clever mannerisms, the hunched shoulders and that laugh. Gotta love that laugh. One thing that is synonymous with Uncle Al has always been his singing. We all love that voice. Over the last few days I’ve heard one song in particular over the radio and I can hear his voice every time it’s played and forever will. So to end this memorial, I’ve included the lyrics below. When I see a photo of Mazzo Sr., it always brings a smile to my face, because it makes me remember the great times we had at Rachel's home a few years ago.  You will always be in my heart.

Uncle Al,

My fondest — and best — memories as a child growing up with my family always included you. Every holiday, we were together from as far back as I could remember, and you were always there, larger than life, always telling a great story, or making us laugh. As I got older, I came to respect you not only as a successful business man, but as an honorable soldier who fought in the Vietnam War. For all those things you were in life, God bless you! Your memory lives on in all of us, and in your children and grand children.

Alfred having you as my brother in law has been been a blast .  We have had so much fun over the

Uncle Al, I know you are singing and dancing up there in heaven. You had an infectious laugh and personality. You welcomed me into the family with open arms, LITERALLY you gave me the biggest hug and a kiss the first time I met you; which was such a comfort to me as a nervous 19 yr old kid meeting the family for the first time. One of my favorite memories of you is dancing with you to the tarantella at my wedding. You lit up the dance floor and showed me a few moves along the way. You could fill a room with your presence. You were truly a one of a kind and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing you! XO

 To my brother in law Al , George and I loved you. Always in a good mood even when you weren’t feeling well. Always had a good story to tell.  Always cracking jokes.Al you were one of kind. I am so greatful to have you for a brother in law. Your going to be missed not only by George and I but by everyone. Rest in Peace Big Al! 

Heaven just gained one of the finest gentlemen I have ever known.  Al may be gone from our sight but he will never be gone from our hearts. His voice and smile will forever be imprinted in our minds. 

Anything you did with Al was memorable. He had one of those personalities that lit up any room he entered. My favorite times with Al were spent fishing.  Even when the fish weren’t biting, we were having a great time because Al was entertaining us with his jokes and stories.  

Karen, Al, Carinda, Lauren, Harris, Matt, Harris Jr., Christopher, Ryan, Justin, Brian and the rest of the family who are mourning his passing, please accept my family’s deepest condolences. We will be praying for Al and all of you!

I will remember Al forever with a smile on my face!  I will remember going to Karen and Al's for lunch and Al making the yummiest tuna salad ever! I will remember sharing a table at our company holiday parties and non-stop laughter caused by Al!  Al was so loved and it was obvious how much he loved his family! I will forever remember Al as the Gentle Giant.  He always had a joke or a story that led to a joke for everyone he met.  Whenever he  visited us at TekP, I knew he was in the building because his cologne (good stuff) made it to our office before he did.  One night while out with Karen and Al, he decided to change Luis and my name and we will forever be "Paco and Chichi".  Al will be missed by all and forgotten by none.  He certainly left his mark on us. RIP buddy.    :(  :(  :(

May 14th was a special day that Al and I share being birthday twins.  Karen being my "office mom" for many years had led me to get to know Al and his amazing humor.  Whenever he would come to visit in the office, he would be cracking jokes and smelling of his latest cologne.  Al was one to always put a smile on everyone's face.  He even accompanied both Karen and Rachel to visit me during my own hospital stay.  As usual, he had a smile on his face and helped to lighten the mood with his sense of humor.  Al will be greatly missed and my condolences are with all of the family and friends he has touched throughout this life.  Rest in Peace Al and keep cracking those jokes up above.

our  hearts are broke,  but the love of our  al, will never fade away.   all happy memories of us together,   we shared laughs ,  tears,  and the best of resturants   you took us to.     you gave us so much to be  thankful for ,  you made sadness go away and turn it to laughter.   yes the politics we talked about when on for hrs and hrs.   but I loved to talk to you about that.    when I needed advice,  you were there to guide me thru,  and help me .    so now I have only memories of the life I had all these yrs from ny to fl with you my sweet loving cousin al .  but thru it all ,  I was so lucky to have you till now.   I cherish every moment we spent together,     and I shall never forget captiva and the vacation we had all of us with you,   you made this all happen.   if it were not for you cousin,  I would see nothing different in my life.    you made our life and my life worth living for.   it was exciting,   we love you and always will forever and ever.   now your with gramma mazzo  and gramdpa mazzo and all of our mazzo family,   don't forget to take them out also and make their life exciting to cousin.   

We remember when Karen  and Al came to Jersey for a wedding some years back . We got to meet them for dinner in Spring Lake..  it was such a great time for us.. that’s how we remember Al ... happy and telling  jokes  .. always made us laugh., 
Al was a great husband , father , grandfather , friend. He will be missed.

So many beautiful, happy, laughable memories to share, but space is limited.  However, this one stands out the most, so I will share it with all of you.  Al, his wife Karen, and Karen's sister Susan spent the last 6 New Years Eves together.  Al, made all the arrangements, and each and everyone of them were magnificent.  You know how the Italians talk with their hands!!!  Swinging them up, down, across, sideways, where sometimes you have to duck so you don't get slapped in the face!!!  Well that was Al this particular New Years Eve.  We were all eating dinner, and Al was on this diet, and lost some weight.  As he was talking and "flapping" his hands around, his ring flew off his finger, and almost landed in this ladies drink at the other table.  The tears were rolling down our faces from laughter.  The most touching part of the evening was when Al gave me a necklace, as well as Susan.  I will treasure that necklace forever.  What a way to start off the evening.  Never mess with Al when it came to politics.  Oh boy!!!  Fox news was his favorite program.  Poor Karen!!!  She wanted to blow up the TV.  I'm sure Fox's standings will plummet since Al will no longer be watching Fox.  My last and "final" visit with Al, was a week before he passed.  He was in a fantastic mood, sang to us, sat with us, and of course he almost made me choke with his jokes or his stories.  Boy, am I going to miss "Big" Al.  RIP my friend.  Your legacy will continue forever.  You took a piece of my heart with you, but I have the necklace to hold close to it!!!  Below is from last New Years Eve!!!

Al, your new journey has begun into the afterlife.  As you venture into the light you will once again be  free of pain.  What wonders you will experience as you cross over to Heaven.  You are not alone during your journey.  All those who have passed over before you will be there to welcome you home.  Though you were taken from us too soon we were all lucky to have had you in our lives.  You will be surely missed by those who knew you. 
Love and sympathy to my sister Karen, Alfred Jr, Carinda, Lauren and grandkids during this time.  You all were loved by a husband, dad and grandpa that loved you.  Remember all the happy times you were fortunate to have with dad while he was here.  Remember Dad’s funny jokes, his humor and his singing which always brought a smile to everyone’s face.
