Yasuko was born in Japan to Sadaichi and Mitsu Kai in October 1950. In 1968, she met a young GI, Verle ‘Mike’ Price, at a formal tea party, where they snuck off to drink beer instead of tea. Mike would become the love of her life and her partner in everything. They married in April 1970 and began their life together, raising a family, traveling the world, and serving our country. Yasuko worked for the US government and traveled the world with Mike while he was in military service. Together with their two sons and many loved pets, they traveled and lived around the world in Hawaii, Korea, Kansas, and then to Germany, where Mike retired from military service and joined Yasuko in working for the US government. Yasuko and Mike lived in Germany for 20+ years until retiring in 2016 and moving to Copperas Cove, Texas. Since retirement, Yasuko has enjoyed traveling the US with her husband and their dog, enjoying time with her children and grandchildren, and the occasional casino.
Yasuko is survived by her husband, Verle ‘Mike’ Price of Copperas Cove, Texas; her sons Johnny ‘John’ (Laura) Price of Bristow, Virginia, and Randy (Kelly) Price of Leawood, Kansas; and four grandchildren, Taylor (Katryn) Sullivan, Ian Price, Isabel ‘Izzy’ Price, and Finley Price; and her beloved Pekinese Chyna.
A Celebration of Yasuko’s Life will be held at the Lil’ Tex Restaurant, 502 S. Main St, Copperas Cove, TX 76522, on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 2 PM.
A Memorial Service and interment will be held at the Central Texas Veteran Cemetery, 11463 Fort Hood Street, Killeen, TX 76542, on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 12:45 PM.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Cancer Society.
