CSM (Ret) William Herman Rose Jr., was born October 4, 1931 in Hampton, Iowa to Eva Rose and William Rose. William left this world surrounded by loving family to be with our Lord on Saturday February 15, 2020.
His exemplary 32 year career in the U.S. Army led him across the globe and back. Will fought in the Korean War and saw action in Vietnam where he served four tours. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal and numerous citations noting his commitment to duty. Will retired at the rank of Command Sergeant Major at Fort Hood, Texas. He went on to continue his education earning an Associated degree. Never one to sit idle he went to work for Tecom where he again excelled in performance. Beginning as a mechanic, his career over 20 years ended with Will in the position of Executive Vice President.
Will will be remembered for his love of life and a true true joy to all who knew him. Will was a true Patriot and a very proud American. He loved life, family, traveling, his Pomeranians, the Dallas Cowboys and a nice sunny day drive in the ol' Slingshot. Will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. "A life well lived"
William is survived by his wife, Velma Rose; daughter Angela Novak; daughter Catherine Olson; daughter Terri Rose; daughter Bobbie Rose; son David Rose; step son Cody Gertgen; and step daughter Shannon Haulotte; 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
William was preceded in death by; his wife and mother of his children Elizabeth, son Merlyn and James; father William Rose and mother Eva Rose.
A visitation for William will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 S Fort Hood St, Killeen, Texas. A funeral service with military honors will occur Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 State Highway 195, Killeen, Texas.
