He was a 1961 graduate of Beaumont High, in Beaumont, Texas. Earlier in his life he was an Assemblies of God pastor at a small church in Evadale, Texas. In 1966, he was drafted into the Army. He served with the First Cavalry Division in Vietnam in 1970/71. While there, he earned the Bronze Star. He made a career with the Army, retiring in 1988. He worked for the City of Killeen’s Sanitation Department from 1989 until retiring in 2005.
He was an avid family man, faithful husband, and wonderful father and grandfather. He had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed cooking for his family, fishing and watching the Dallas Cowboys and wrestling.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his former wife, Kandy Sims. He is survived by his loving wife Lumduan Sims of Copperas Cove, brother Jerry Sims (Robin) of Memphis, TN, sons Curtis Sims (Patt) of San Antonio, Billy Sims, Jr. (Karen), and Michael Sims (Michelle), both of who live in the surrounding area, and Will Peusingchai (Gayla) of Kyle. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 29th from 6:00 - 8:00PM at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. A Graveside service with Full Military Honors will be held on Saturday October 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Copperas Cove City Cemetery.
