After a lengthy and private battle with LaBrune’s Syndrome, Carmen passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019. Her brief time on this earth has been a loving testament and inspiration to everyone that knew her.
Carmen attended Oklahoma State University and graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies. As a native of Coppell, Carmen attended Coppell schools and was a Distinguished Achievement graduate of Coppell High School in 2006. Carmen’s passion for volunteering included working with Coppell ISD, the Carrollton Animal Shelter, and SilverXis, Inc.
Survivors include her parents, Gwen and Zane Brantley; her grandparents, Marian and Samuel “Mac” McClintock of Byram, Mississippi; aunt Shawn Gremillion Rude and husband Les; and cousin, John Padgett and wife Leah of Long Beach Mississippi.
Predeceased by her grandmother, Jill Gremillion; her grandfathers, R.M. “Bubba” Brantley and Lester Kenneth Padgett Sr.; and uncle Lester Kenneth Padgett Jr.
Carmen’s family wishes to extend their sincerest appreciation to her UTSW medical team especially Mike Levy MSN, Dr. Bruce Mickey, Dr. Brett Whittemore, and Dr. Bradley Weprin and the Seasons Hospice staff for their many kindnesses and the love and support that they provided Carmen.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 in the chapel at Rolling Oaks Funeral Home in Coppell, Texas. Visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, tribute gifts can be made to Operation Kindness, a non-profit no-kill animal shelter at Operationkindness.org.
