Mr. McGrath was a retired patrolman with the New York City Police Department; and a United States Army veteran.
Surviving are his children - his daughter, Betty Pascuzzi and son-in-law, Santa; his sons - William Anthony McGrath and Joseph McGrath; and his grandchildren - Josh, Tori, Sean and Rachel. Predeceasing him is his son, Robert McGrath.
Family and friends will gather at the funeral home for Memorial Visitation on Tuesday, September 9th, from 2-4:30 and 7-9:30 p.m. A Funeral service will be offered during the evening hours at 8:00 p.m. On Wednesday, all will gather at Inurnment Services at Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, at 11:00 a.m. where final commendation prayers will be offered after the Military Honors Ceremony conducted by the U.S. Army Ceremonial Guard.
Remembrances may be made in P.O. Bill McGrath's name to the "NYC PBA Widows and Children's Fund" Checks are made payable to the fund, and sent to the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, 125 Broad Street, 11th Floor, New York, NY 10004-2400; to the attention of Michael Morgillo or Joseph Alejandro. The fund provides aid and assistance to the families of police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
