Michael Anthony Simone

Michael was born in Brooklyn to his late parents, Vincent and Anna Simone. He attended and graduated from New York Vocational High School in 1970. Michael was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He found passion in Civil Engineering, which lead him to a long career with the New York City Transit Authority as Stationary Fireman, from which he retired.

He met his bride, the former Tina Marie Nuzzi, when he visited her hair salon for his haircuts. While it took some time for their friendship to blossom, love found its' way and they married in 2013. Michael had a unique dry wit about him, which made him quite a good joke teller. But everyone would come to learn that his true talent lie in his voice - he so enjoyed singing. His musical genres spanned far; and for so many years found joy in performing, especially Doo Wop shows at local venues such as Villa Monaco.

Michael is predeceased by his parents, his Aunt Mary, Uncle Barney DeVita, Aunt Lee and Uncle Pat DeRosa, Aunt Rose Teta, and his cousins Patricia DeRosa and Paul Teta. Surviving is his beloved family - his wife, Tina; his son, Michael and daughter-in-law, Erica; his daughter, Catherine Watson and son-in-law, Tyler; his grandchildren - Sophia and Danny; and his sister, Denise Simone. He also leaves his step-children - Brittney Romanelli and Vincent Romanelli; and many cherished cousins.

The Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 27th, at 9:45 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption R. C. Church in Copiague. Inurnment of Mr. Simone's cremated remains, with U.S. Navy Military Honors will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
