Catherine was born in Rosedale, New York to her late parents, Frank and Mary Dallara. She was raised in Bayside, Queens, graduating from Bayside High School. While she worked in a bank in New York, she met her future husband, Paul, who was working there too. Following a beautiful courtship, they married on April 1, 1967 and made their home in Flushing, New York where they began their family.
Catherine retired from the Copiague Public Schools after over 30 years of service. In her private time, she loved gardening, cooking family dinners and socializing with friends.
Surviving is her beloved family, her husband of 55 years, Paul; their daughter, Lisa Byrne and son-in-law, Michael; her grandchildren – Caitlyn Byrne (Sean Brust), Robert Byrne and Jenna Byrne; and her great-grandson, Tyler Brust. Also surviving is her beloved sister, Mary Dittrich (the late Thomas), and her nephews, Thomas Dittrich and Frank Dittrich.
Family and friends will gather at the funeral home for visitation on Monday, April 11 and Tuesday, April 12th from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 13th at 9:30 am at St. Martin of Tours RC Church, Amityville. Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale.
