Howard Walter Krueger was born on February 23, 1930, at Wadena, MN to the parents of Walter John and Mildred Mae (Kicker) Krueger. He had a brother Melvin Krueger and two sisters, Marie Haubrick and Leola Bebeau.
He attended First grade at Cloquet, then various rural schools to the end of 4th grade, then Jenkins Elementary School. He attended Pine River High School through the end of his junior year and graduated from Washington High School, in Brainerd 1948. He worked at the Northern Pacific Railroad, September through December. He attended Minneapolis Business college January through May 1949. Then he attended Brainerd Community College, graduating with an Associate of Arts degree, with honors, in May 1951.
Howard worked as an accountant for a wholesale bakery 1951–1952. He was inducted into the U.S. Army, August 1952–August 1954. Then he worked as a tax auditor and later as an accountant, the State of Minnesota 1955 -1960.
Howard started dating Dorene Elaine Montgomery and enjoyed being with her. They were married on July 7, 1956, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church at Brainerd. They had four children: Kevin Howard in 1957, Duane Walter in 1960, Nancy Kay in 1965 and Rodney Gene in 1968.
Howard continued his education. He graduated from Macalester College with a Bachelor of Arts degree, May 1961. Howard graduated from United Theological Seminary, Dayton Ohio, June 1964 with Master of Divinity degree. Later Howard graduated from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities and Consortium of Minnesota Theological Schools, Twin Cities, May 1977 with a Doctor of Ministries degree.
Howard pastored a church at Ledlow Falls, Ohio, while a seminary student. In Minnesota he pastored churches at Paynesville, Redwood Falls, Kiester, Long Prairie, Buffalo Lake, St. Anthony Village and Osseo.
Howard retired in June 1992. Howard and Dorene lived several years, summers in Minnesota and winter in Florida. He currently lived at Edgewood home in Blaine, Minnesota.
Howard had many hobbies from building houses, fishing, wood working, painting, traveling, stain glass but his most favorite things were HOT (weak) coffee, sweets, butter pecan ice cream and spending time with his wife Dorene, family and friend playing dirty marbles.

Grandchildren: Mickyla May Constance, Dustin Duane Krueger, Aksana Joy Krueger, Natalie Christine Krueger, Delaney Kay (Miles) Winkler, Alexander Roy Krueger
Great Grandchildren: McKenna May Constance, Addisyn Amelia Constance, Emily Joy Krueger, Malcolm Miles Winkler, Callum Lane Winkler and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 10am until time of service at 11am on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids. Interment will immediately follow at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids.
Memorial fund can be given to Alzheimer Association.
