Gilma Florence Oppedahl

Our beloved mother, age 92 of Coon Rapids, passed away August 30, 2022.

Her smiles and sense of humor will be missed by many.

Mom was always happy, caring and generous. She loved dancing, singing, traveling and playing card games. She always looked forward to our yearly woman’s weekend. She spent many years after retirement volunteering in the church office. She enjoyed family time especially with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gilma was born April 14, 1930 in Mason City, Iowa, to Joel and Selma Ellingson. She grew up in Kiester, MN, spending time as a majorette in the marching band and performing in a quartette, “The Harmonettes”. In 1948 she married the love of her life “Eldo”. They proceeded to move 26 times between Iowa and Minnesota, before settling in Coon Rapids, Minnesota in 1963.

Gilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eldo; two brothers, Elroy and Ronald; son in law, Terry Henrikson.

Survived by daughters, Diane Henrikson, Jane (Greg) Shamp; son, Michael Oppedahl; five grandchildren, Jeffrey (Joni), Jodi (Brian), Jeana (Casey), Amanda (Ryan), Kelsey (Todd); twelve great grandchildren, Marisa, Dylan, Jeffrey, Devyn, Jordyn, Rylee, Reese, Cole, Sonia, Addyson, Jaymasen, Colt; One-great-great grandaughter; sister, Doreen (tom) Reisetter; and many, many nieces and nephews.
