Thomas “Tommy” Oden passed away peacefully at his home in Waterwood Subdivision in Huntsville, Texas on February 16, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Oden, his mother, Lola Oden and his sister, Betty Kimbrell. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Debby Oden, his daughters, Charlotte Lukowiski and Andrea Robinson, grandchildren, Sophia Robinson, Thomas Robinson and Jasmine Berndt and brother, Bobby Oden.
Tommy was born on June 7, 1949 in Scottsboro, AL. His family moved to Houston when Tommy was seven years old. Tommy attended Milby High School. Tommy joined the U.S. Army at the age of twenty and made two tours of duty to Vietnam. Tommy was in the 8th Military Police Group and was separated from active duty in October 1971 at the rank of SP4.
Tommy worked for many years as a Lithographer for several Houston companies and retired from FedEx several years ago. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. Tommy was a member of First United Methodist Church of Onalaska. He was on the Board of Trustees, a member of Methodist Men and sang in both the men’s choir and regular choir.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 22, 2019 at 10:00am at First United Methodist Church Onalaska with visitation held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Houston National Cemetery at 1:15pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First United Methodist Church Onalaska in Tommy’s memory.
