Stephen Wayne Junell passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021, after fighting a courageous yearlong battle with cancer. Steve was born on July 12, 1955, to LT and Cindy Junell in Dallas, Texas. He spent his teenage years in the small East Texas town of Eustace and graduated from Eustace High in 1973.
Steve married the love of his life, Molly Sue, on August 7, 1987, blending two families into one large, boisterous family. He could often be found at baseball fields, basketball/volleyball courts, and countless football stadiums either coaching or cheering on his five children.
He was a lineman for many years for Texas Power & Light before joining his wife’s family at American Hat Company, where he excelled at cowboy hat making and salesmanship. For the last several years, Steve worked alongside close friends and family at Tech-Flo Consulting as a project manager/field technician.
Steve loved fishing, the Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with his 11 grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents LT and Cindy Junell, brothers Billy Wesley (Ike) and Mike Junell, Steve is survived by wife Molly Junell, children John Chad Junell and wife Eden, Jacob Junell and wife Melissa, Billy Maynard and wife Kate, Bonny Dawson, and Hunter Junell, sister Carolyn Messerschmidt, sisters-in-law Jan Lewis and Cathey Costas, grandchildren Nathan, Tyler, Kyle, Jackson, Ashton, Rylee, Dylan, Jase, Layla, Duke, and Kara.
Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, from 5:00 – 8:00PM. A private service will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021, followed by interment at Payne Cemetery. Cashner Funeral Home requires facemasks throughout their facilities.
