Robert Charles Frazier Sr., of Bryan, Texas, passed away July 11, 2018 at the age of 83, surrounded by his family in the peace of his home. He was born in Bristow, Oklahoma, on June 19, 1935, the son of Edith Mae Crawford. Robert, known as Bob by all who knew him, was in the Air Force when he met his sweetheart Dorris Jean. He was a graduate of Freed-Hardeman University, Henderson, Tennessee, and later earned a Certificate of Family Pastoral Counseling, University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He also earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of China, Yale Mandarin Language Studies and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy from York College, York, Nebraska. After fifty-five years in ministry, counseling, athletics coach and as an educator, he retired in 2012 from the Tri-C Christian Campus Center, University of Texas at Arlington, Texas.
Bob was a devoted and loving husband to Dorris for 64 years and an amazing, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. His love for God was reflected in his life as a missionary in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong and Macau. A respected church builder, Bob always gave the glory to God for his success in the Mission field. Bob shared an undying love, along with Dorris, for the Asian people and their culture. His family shares many fond memories singing, playing guitar, family devotionals and sharing his passion for reading bedtime stories. He had a beautiful, natural way of making every family member feel special, important, valued and loved. The family considers it a blessing to have shared in his life of love and devotion.
He is survived by his beloved wife and partner, Dorris Frazier; devoted children: Cynthia Honkomp, Chuck Frazier, Deirdre Hunt, Bob Frazier (Sylvia), Edith Kellum (Blake), Tracy Knapp (Karl), Bryan Frazier (May), and Phillip Frazier; twenty grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. One Sister survives him Betty Smith. Preceding him in death is his mother, Edith Ledgerwood Crawford, dearest sisters Carolyn Jean Rowe, Ramona Hoffman, Patricia Taylor, brother Harold Crawford, and beloved Grandson Daniel Werring.
The family will hold a private graveside service in Conroe, Texas, at Garden Parks Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to join in a Celebration of Life service at A & M Church of Christ, 2475 Earl Rudder Freeway South, College Station, Texas 77845 on August 4, 2018, at 11:00am.
