Milton Reginald Jordan was born on February 22, 1924 in Beaumont, Texas. He attended school in Lufkin, Texas, and at an early age joined the Army to participate in WWII. He was a Tank Commander serving under General George Patton, Third Armored Division, he survived the loss of five tanks during the War, and he was involved in the Battle of The Bulge.
Milt married his high school sweetheart, Wilma Jean Burris, on May 3, 1946. He and his bride Jean were married for 67 years.
After being discharged from the Army at the end of the War, Milt went to work in the oilfield industry as a machinist and night shift foreman with Byron-Jackson in Houston. Milt & Jean's first-born son Charles was born in Houston in 1949. Shortly after being transferred to Corpus Christi in 1952, their second son Brent was born. Milt & Jean made several work-related moves while employed for companies such as Hillman Kelley Power Tongs in Midland and The Jack Anderson Company, selling Wilson Rigs. Following the birth of their third son Steve in Lafayette, Louisiana, the family relocated to Kilgore, Texas, for a short time before returning to Houston in 1961, where they have remained. In Houston is where Milt began his lengthy career with The Wire Rope Corporation (WIRECO) as their District Sales Manager, Gulf Coast. He retired from WIRECO in 1986, at the age of 62.
Milt was an active participant with the Arabia Shrine and held the title of Chief of Staff.
Milton Reginald Jordan is survived by his wife Wilma Jean Jordan and by his sister Gwendolyn Burke Walker. As often expressed by his sister "Sing," God broke the mold after creating her big brother Milt. Milt adored his wife Jean and continuously doted on her. He was passionate about his sons and their families, and he was a wonderful grandfather. A man of great character, Milton Reginald Jordan was both an avid fisherman and a lover of Jesus.
A funeral service honoring Milt's life will be held at Metcalf Funeral Directors, Conroe, Texas, on Saturday, January 12, 2013; visitation will begin at noon, with a service beginning at 1:00.
