Mary Beth (Christian) Bailey

Mary Beth Christian Bailey, 97, was born to Robert and Lee Vena Christian on June 23, 1921 in Crockett, Texas. Beth resided in Crockett, Texas with her parents and five sisters until 1937 when the family moved to Houston, Texas. Beth and several of her sisters were employed by Albrittons Cafeteria where Beth met the love of her life James P. Bailey and they were marred on January 8, 1939. They enjoyed a 54 year marriage until his death in November of 1993. Beth was a long time member of the Willis United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Willis Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 1017 and was employed many years in the County Clerk’s office at the Montgomery County Courthouse. After retirement, she was able to travel throughout our country for twenty years. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, son James “Jim” Bailey, son-in-law Tommie Collier, grandson Jason Bailey, great grandson Jackson Blair, and in-laws Bill and Zelma Bailey, sisters Robbie (Bill) Bolin, Monterrey (Blondie) Light, Nita (Ted) DeLeon, brothers in law Tatum Bailey, Harold Rein, and Bill Gaddis, sisters in law Lorene (Reece) Phillips and Jean (Nev) Nevampa. Beth is survived by her daughter Linda Collier of Conroe, daughter in law Diann Bailey of Willis, grandchildren Tommie (Pam) Collier of Port Lavaca, Greg Collier of Conroe and Israel Figueroa of San Antonio, Melinda Nelson of Webster, Jamie (Michael ) Glass of Willis. Great grandchildren Courtney (Jeff) Jones of Victoria, Stacey (James) Finster of Victoria, Kara Beth (Ryan) Hopkins of Seguin, Chelsea ( Chris ) Hyrc of League City, Hailey Nelson of Austin, Christian Nelson of Webster, Bailey Blair of Houston and Sadie Blair of Willis, great-great grandchildren Camden and Kadence Finster of Victoria, Hunter and Colton Hopkins of Seguin and Emma Hryc of League City and Lucas Nelson of Webster, sisters Jean Rein and Ruby “Waddy” Gaddis both of Houston, Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and close friends. A very special thank you to mom’s special friends for a lifetime of love and support including Vertis Henry, Kaye Stripling, Luther and Sue Ann Powell, Skip Folk, Jan Dial, Kenneth and Beverly Vornsand, Lou Riggs, Jayne Brown and the Weslayan Sunday School Class, the Eastern Star Chapter 1017 and her many church and county friends. Thank you also to the physicians and staff of Methodist Hospital, Brightpointe Skill Nursing Facility, and Veracare Hospice. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Willis United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe, Texas.
