Born on February 25, 1924 in Paducah, Texas to Marcus and Pearl Costolow. He grew up as a child in Spur, Texas. Later he attended Texas Tech University and received a Chemical Engineering degree. While there he met the love of his life Mary “Jo”. They married in 1944 and had two children. John loved being a husband, father, grandad and great grandad.
He worked for Phillips for many years. Upon retiring John and Jo moved to Conroe where they spent their time loving on family, enjoying good food and spending time with friends. John’s hobbies were gardening, woodworking and building radio control airplanes. He could build a good plane but when it came to flying them he learned quickly it was better to let a friend do the flying. After the passing of his wife in 2012, John moved to Pasadena, Texas to be near his son and family.
John was preceded in death by his father Marcus Costolow, his mother Anna Pearl Costolow, his wife Mary Jo Costolow, his brother Maurice Costolow, and grandson Jimmie John Daniels.
John is survived by his daughter Paula Rooks, son Jeff Costolow and wife Charlotte; grandchildren Rose Daniels and husband Dave Friedman, Paul Costolow and wife Kara; great children, Chloe Hill, Xander Daniels, Alexis Daniels, Sadie Friedman, Cash Costolow and Claire Costolow.
Our family is forever grateful for his loving caregivers. A special thanks to Dora and Monica at The Reserve in Pasadena for providing exceptional care to him on a daily basis. At Reliant Hospice, a special thanks to Denise, Mary, Gloria, Cathy and Pastor Tony, as they would always enter his room bringing a ray of sunshine.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe in a graveside service on November 9, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.
