Jerry Grant Cooper was born February 4, 1949 in York, Alabama and went home to be with his Savior on May 10, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Rebekah Lynn Cooper, and children: Susan Hill and Bryan Hill and his wife Jamie. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Selvin Green and Corrie Mae Green, and his children, Jerry Douglas Cooper, Joy Cathryn Cooper and Russell Edward Hill.
Jerry grew up in Mobile, Alabama and graduated from B. C. Rain High School in 1966. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi his freshman year and joined the U. S. Army in 1968 where he completed 2 tours of duty in Vietnam, achieving the rank of Captain and serving with the 101st Airborne Division as a helicopter pilot. He remained in the Reserves until 1978. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Troy University, Alabama in 1973.
Jerry worked in the Mortgage Lending banking industry most of his adult life. He also worked for John Deere Credit as a salesman in the manufactured housing lending division. He permanently retired in 2013. Jerry loved the Lord with all his heart and has been a member of Mims Baptist Church where he enjoyed teaching an adult couples class for six years.
Jerry spent the last 3 years of his life with selfless love and devotion, helping his wife take care of her Mother in their home. He will be so deeply missed by his family because he was so deeply loved by them.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at Cashner Funeral Home, 810 Teas Road, Conroe, Tx 77303 on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 5-7 pm. The graveside service will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Bedias, TX on Thursday, May 18, 2023 beginning at 11 am.
