Bobby was born on December 10, 1934 in Huntsville, Texas to Ozell Elizabeth Stone and Thomas Emanuel Plaster. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1953, serving aboard the USS Shangri-La as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic, earning the Good Conduct Medal before being honorably discharged in July of 1961. Bobby served a stint as a truck driver, but his primary passion was operating heavy equipment. Long after retirement Bobby could be found on one piece of equipment or another; whether it was mowing, digging, clearing land, or trenching, he was happiest outside operating machinery. Along with his brother and six sisters, Bobby was raised in a Family Full of Love, teaching his four children that if you have love and values nothing else matters. In April of 1983, Bobby found the love of his life; his soulmate, Barbara Ann Planka, and they were married on May 7, 1983. By saying those two words, “I Do”, Barbara inherited four wonderful kids and a large, loving family. Bobby and Barb have been inseparable, showing unconditional love through a marriage of 31 years. Barb cared for him through his courageous battle with cancer that ended on October 8, 2014, surrounded by family and in the arms of his Forever Soulmate at their home on Plaster Circle in Conroe, TX. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Homer Plaster, his sisters Marlene Golightly, Faye McKithan, Shirley Sweat, Annie Risch, and an infant daughter, Elizabeth. He leaves his wife, Barb, son Robert Plaster and wife, JoAnn of Pipe Creek, TX; son, Thomas “Mack” Plaster and wife, Melissa of Conroe, Texas; daughters Nancy Plaster of Willis, TX, and Susan Blythe of Shepherd, TX, 12 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and an extensive group of friends and family including many special nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Bobby’s life will be Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cashner Colonial Chapel. You are invited to view our webpage and leave written tributes to the family at cashnerconroe.com
