Dorothy Ruth King

Dorothy Ruth King was born on June 28, 1938 to Walter and Helen King in Morro Bay, California and passed away on June 13, 2024 in Conroe, Texas, known to many as simply Dottie or Dot, Grandmother Dorothy or GG by her grandchildren.

Dottie had a giving heart, always helping her friends and the elderly in her community. She was a hard worker and retired after many years with Target. Dottie was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and always looked forward to Sunday morning services. You could always find her working on her word search puzzle books. She enjoyed putting puzzles together, watching Little Rascals and western movies, bird watching, gardening in raised beds, making baby quilts and Mr.& Mrs. Santa Claus out of Readers Digest, doing pretty punch needle embroidery and eating lots of chocolate candy, but most of all, loving and caring for her Teacup Poodle, Angel. Dottie felt her greatest accomplishment was having her four daughters. We will love and miss our Momma forever and always.

Dottie was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Helen King, brother, Vernon King and wife Vida, sister, Marie Petty and husband Charles, brother in law, Floyd Baker, grandson, Lyndon Koenig and great grandson, Michael Franks Jr.

She is survived by daughters, Carolyn Chandler and husband Robert of Center, Texas, Rachel Koenig and husband Glen of Conroe, Texas, Wanda Bennight and husband Tommy of New Caney, Texas, Lynn Chron and husband Tim Gill of Conroe, Texas, sister, Irene Baker of Conroe, Texas, brother, C.B. King and wife Mary of Conroe, Texas. Her grandchildren, Katherine Chandler of Tomball, Texas, Jeremy Chandler of Magnolia, Texas, Laura Shires and husband Stephen of Huxley, Texas, Jared Koenig and wife Constance of Anna, Texas, Rex Allen Franks and wife Katie of Huntsville, Texas, Michael R. Franks and wife Abby of Conroe, Texas, James Payne and wife Jennifer of New Caney, Texas, Tiffany Cantu and husband Josh of Spring, Texas, Alicia Pickens and husband Ronnie of New Caney, Texas, Tommie Bennight of New Caney, Texas and Laurie Trevino of New Caney, Texas; great grandchildren, Adrianna Gaspard, Victoria Gaspard, Larissa Murray, Keilan Jackson, Allie Koenig, Abigail Koenig, Maverick Koenig, Lilo Koenig, Josiah Payne, Blake Smith, Everett Bennight, Ally Bennight, Joy Trevino, Paxton Tuttle, Logan Hoover, Gavin Allen, Michael S.L. Franks, Jessica Franks, Cameron Franks, Gracelyn Franks, William Renfro and Ginnie Thornburg. Numerous other relatives and a host of friends also survive.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heart to Heart Hospice for the care they gave Mom and the support they gave us.

Funeral services will occur Friday, June 21, 2024 at 1:00 pm in Cashner Colonial Hall with Brother John Walker officiating. Visitation will occur one hour prior to services. Graveside services will follow in Copeland Chapel Cemetery, Montgomery, Texas.
