Donald Ray Lawson, 78, of Conroe, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed and was reunited with his Lord on July 11, 2010. Don was born in Flora, Louisiana to C. M. and Ruby Gertrude Lawson on January 15, 1932. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, loving and proud father, a man of great character and integrity. Don retired from the U.S. Navy as a Commander in the Medical Service Corps after proudly serving his country for 29 years. Approximately half of those years were spent serving with the U. S. Marine Corps. In his many transfers to duty stations around the country he was a church builder. He is survived by his loving wife, Anita Walker Lawson, daughter, Madeline Lawson Pruitt (Van); sons, Donald Ray Lawson, Jr. (Sue), Carroll Vernon Lawson (Candace) and Brent Lawson (Sandra); brother, Carroll M. Lawson (Joye); grandchildren, Pam Kromer (Mike), Anita Fail, Candace Lawson, Melissa Moss (Kevin), Travis Lawson, Jessica Rae Coleman (Troy), Aaron Lawson, Donnie Lawson, Bryan Lawson, Shannon Lawson, John Lawson and David Lawson; great grandchildren Cody, Morgan, John David, Mike, Jr., Gabriel, Lily, and Graham. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., at Metcalf Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas with Graveside Services at 2:00 p.m., at Old Waverly Cemetery in New Waverly, Texas. Those wishing to leave tributes for the family may do so at www.metcalffuneraldirectors.com.
