Diane Lee Chandler, 72, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2022, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Diane was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Once described as “like a Disney fairy godmother,” she loved generously, limitlessly, and unconditionally.
Diane was born on February 9, 1950, in Independence, Kansas, to Donald and Lila Randall (deceased). The family, including younger brother David, moved to Houston when Don took a job with the Interstate Commerce Commission. Diane would later work as a teletype operator for the railroad at Union Station, now commonly known as Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros.
Diane had a heart large enough for everything and everyone. She never turned away a stray, be it canine or human. She loved to shop and travel and looked forward to her annual trips to Canton and casino weekends with daughter-in-law Nicole. She was a die-hard Astros fan and a cautiously optimistic Texans fan, loudly calling plays and objecting to penalties from home. She laughed as big as she loved… most often at herself.
Diane is survived by her two sons, Patrick (Nicole) and Ryan (Inger), of Houston; her brother, David Randall (Sandra) of Willis; sister-in-law, Linda Miller of Salt Lake City, Utah; brother-in-law, George Chandler (Leigh) of Dallas; four treasured grandchildren, Holden, Carson, Maggie and Will; and numerous other friends and family members.
Diane was preceded in death by the love of her life, Roy Bradley Chandler. After his death in 2006, not a single day passed when she did not think of or speak of him, and while she carried on, she looked forward to the day when she would see him again. She is already deeply and sorely missed.
A private burial service will be held by the family at Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe.
