Delgia “Buck” Duke went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 6, 2011 at the age of 82 years. He was born to Delgia and Clemmer Duke on April 13, 1929 in Willis and lived there his entire life. He was a volunteer fireman for 30 years at the Willis Fire Department. One of Buck’s hobbies was to walk around Willis and collect cans. One of his favorite spots to hang out was under the big tree at Zipps. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Willis.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Vernon. He is survived by his brother, John T. Duke of Willis; sister-in-law, Mary Duke of Hampton, Virginia; close family friends, Raymond and Beverly Martinez, their sons, Jacob, Wade, Jared, Levi and grandson, Landen, who he called “Tadpole”. Other close family friends are Judy Fisher and Jimmy Adamick. Other family members and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Willis on July 12, 2011 at 10 a.m. with Brother Charles Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cude Cemetery on Cude Cemetery Road in Willis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Willis, P.O.
