You were not my mother by birth, but you treated me like a daughter. You loved to laugh and make others laugh. You were there to dry my tears on many occasions. You always listened without judgement. Forever my mother in law. More than anything you were a friend. I wouldn’t change an ounce of life right now because of the fact that I got to know you. Words cannot express how much I love you and Lord knows you are terribly missed. Until we meet again Deborah Sue. 

Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you mom. I miss you so much it hurts. I feel your presence often, I just miss the touch. I know one day I’ll see you again but until then, please watch over me. I love you to heaven and back. Your daughter ❤️

Jesse, Melba and all the other family members who loved Debbie - I know there is sadness and sorrow, but I know she is running and twirling and shooting baskets free from pain in Heaven with the angels. May you all be comforted by His everlasting love.

There is no way i could add “a memory “ She was our pitcher, the best gravy maker in our many Galveston trips, and the real source of most of the belly laughter!   What a gal what a wonderful everything!   Love is the key to her very existence!

It was truly a Blessing that I got to work with mama Deborah for a year,I wouldn't trade nothing about it. She welcomed me with open and loving arms. She was a very loveable woman of God & I will forever cherish the memories we had together ❤! I would like to thank you all Mickie, Pops, & Mr. David for opening up your home to me and trusting me to take care of her,it was an HONOR. I'm definitely going to miss those "see you tomorrow hugs and kisses"! The joy of knowing you're not hurting anymore & you're at peace,I love you 😘 & the girls & I are going to miss you dearly. I have so many wonderful memories of Debbie and the whole Fussell family. From the minute Mickie and I became friends, I was treated like a member of the family. Little did I know, in my teens I would lose my mom to cancer.  Debbie stepped in and gave me more. She guided me and loved me like a daughter. I truly  needed that at that time in my life. I love you Debbie, you will always be momma Fussell to me. Now you and my mom are dancing in Heaven together.  I long to see yall again!

I knew Debbie thru Rita Witt and she always came into the Pharmacy.  She always had a sweet smile. Rest in Peace. My Prayers for the Family

Aunt Debbie will forever be in my ❤️. I loved her like a second mom. So many great memories to share. She made me laugh and always was there when I needed her. 

One day I thought I was going to die, Dewayne called Aunt Debbie and she took me to the doctor in Conroe. Thank goodness it was just strep throat. She took care of me like her own.

She was at the hospital for my first born. I will never forget that her and Mamaw was cheering for whose birthday  Adriana would be born on. Adriana was born shortly after midnight on Aunt Debbie‘s birthday. She was so happy.  They always shared this wonderful day. 

Aunt Debbie loved fresh cooked fish. Dewayne and I would call her. She would say I will be right down. 

She taught me how to eat crawfish. To this day I love crawfish. Thank you Aunt Debbie. 

So many wonderful memories! But I can’t forget the time she thought it would be funny to throw a fireworks at me. It ended up burning my leg. To this day I have a heart ❤️ scar on my leg. She felt really bad about it but we all laughed.

Nana, I met you when I was 14 years old and I wish it would’ve been sooner, however you instantly accepted me as part of the family.  You were the Grandma I never got to grow up with and have… from the biscuits and gravy and all the memories on Darby loop, to the memories at the deer lease when DJ would let me go. Even when y’all moved, everytime I  would walk in you greeted me with the biggest smile and the best hugs and kisses. I will miss your presence so much but I’m so happy you are finally pain free. We even got to share wheelchairs together!! You and Papa are the best, and everybody who has had the pleasure to meet you already knows that. I’ll never forget the memories we all shared together. RIP sweet angel, we all love and will forever miss your presence on this earth. Until we meet again. ❤️💙

Growing up in this house was the highlight of my youth. Being brought into the family fold was an honor. Seeing the love Jesse and Debbie had for each other made such an impression on me.  I can hear Debbie laughing hysterically at all the pranks, and teasing in that house. It truly was a blast to be a part of it. 
I’m blessed to have Mama Debbie in my life, I loved her and I know she loved me back.

We had the privilege of being Debbie’s neighbors and friends the past 3 years. Her beauty and love shown through her eyes! We are grateful to have our memories with her. Debs!! Where do I begin ??  You were one of the first smiles I met at the bank when I started over 18 years ago and like that , we were hooked to the hip! I'll never forget when you hired a stripper for Jocelyn's surprise party! I was just freshly 18 and didn't know what to do with myself !  Or , that time you told someone they must be from New Caney and  as a matter of fact, they were ! That will forever be one of my favorites.  

 You not only showed up to my wedding ,you came to the hospital all three times to welcome my babies into the world! You watched my girls while I was in labor with Marshall and even made sure Jason had lunch. ❤️ Words can not express the love I have for you,  my family has for you, momma bear! Like many, I could go on and on with countless memories, they are endless and some of my most cherished.  
Rest In Peace ,Deb's, may there be no more struggles or pain. You will be forever missed, forever loved   ❤️

Momma is what I called her not Debbie because that’s just what she was.I was greeted with a hug and kiss every time I saw her, she would have the biggest smile on her face when I came in her presence that lit up the room.I’m happy to have gotten the chance to spend time with her.I admired this lady she was spunky, witty, and sassy, with a whole lot of class.I love ❤️ you momma may ur spirit and light continue to shine bright in heaven .

Debbie was one of a kind - and those who knew her don't need an explanation as to why. 

I moved to Texas fresh off the heels of my wedding when I was 22 years old. I knew no one  other than my husband. I landed a job as a teller at Woodforest not long after my move, and that's where my story with Debs begins. She welcomed me immediately with open arms, likely sensing that I longed for friends and more importantly, family. When I got pregnant 5 months later, Debbie was the first person I told outside of my family. When my daughter got sick three weeks after she was born, I called Debbie sobbing from the hospital because I was so scared and didn't know what to do. Moments later, Debbie came running down the hallway and wrapped me in her arms, and stayed with us that first night in the hospital until the early morning hours. I never asked Debbie to come to the hospital - she just knew I felt alone and was scared, and I didn't need to say anything else. She knew I needed her and she showed up without me needing to ask. That following Easter my husband and I, and our then 11 month old daughter, didn't have a family to share Easter with.  It was then that Debbie invited us to her family's Easter celebration, which is where we spent many Easters after. She knew how to be the best of friends-  she was kind, loving, and FUNNY!

The memories of rolling laughter I shared with Debbie at Woodforest cannot be condensed here into this one paragraph. They are endless and as I list them here now they may not mean anything to anyone else but she knows EXACTLY what these mean: missing teeth, mismatched shoes, skirt tucked into tights, not speaking "spainard", working at NASA, aluminum, missing $25,000... 
Gosh Debbie you were simply amazing and such a lifesaver for me. You instantly became my family when I didn't have anyone. You left an immediate imprint on my heart. The emptiness I feel knowing you are not sharing this Earth with me is unbearable. Until we meet again.. 


Forever my hero. No words could ever explain my love for you. There will never be a day that goes by that I don’t think of you. I know you’re in a place with only happiness and the only wounds are on the hands that hold you now. This is not a goodbye, it’s I’ll see you later. Forever your best friend, your daughter Mickie❤️

I am so glad I got to visit a few times this past year with her and shared some special memories. She was an amazing sweet hearted women. There will be no other like her. She was full of love for her family and it showed. I am so sorry for the loss of her. I know she is going to be deeply missed but only time can heal that void. I know she loved you all very much! I moved to Texas from Maryland in the late 80's and met my mentor and best friend Debbie "Fuzz" Fussell. Life would never be the same. She and her family taught me about life, love and loyalty. She and our beloved Garys Girls have endured through the years.  My heart goes out to Jessie, Mickie, David, James and Fred and all their extended Fussell families. 
Fuzz can laugh and sing and dance again now. We should celebrate having known and loved her.
