Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Lyle S. Thompson in 1990, her second husband Charles W. Ormond in 2011, her sister Laura L. Haight in 2012 and her son Michael R. Thompson in 2014. She was also preceded in death by brothers Vernon and Robert and her sister Jean. She is survived by her brother Lewis L. Haight, her daughters E. Dawn Thompson and L. Kim Thompson-Tillman and her son Paul D. Thompson. Also surviving her are her granddaughters Shannon Tillman, Carin Tillman-Huebner, grandsons Michael Paul Thompson and Mark Thompson and her great granddaughter Reykja L. Huebner.
Catherine and Lyle moved their family from Nunda, New York to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1965. She relocated to Houston in 1985 to be near her daughters and granddaughters. There she worked for many years as a medical records coder at Herman Hospital, Park Plaza Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital.
In 1993, Catherine married Charles Ormond and enjoyed her life with him for over 15 years. She and Charles were members of Mims Baptist Church of Conroe, Texas and worshipped there regularly. They thoroughly enjoyed traveling in their RV.
Catherine honored her father as a veteran of WWI and her son as a veteran of Vietnam by her lifetime membership in the Nunda chapter of the VFW Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and was rarely without a book in hand. Catherine was also a prolific crocheter producing an incredible number of doilies, afghans and other miscellaneous items.
A celebration of Catherine’s life is being planned for October where she will be interred in Oakwood Cemetery in Nunda, New York.
