Sid was born in Hanover, PA on June 18th, 1939. He spent part of his younger years living in the loving environment of his Grandparents – Pap-Pap and Mom-Mom Hawk.
After a while, he moved in with his Mother Gladys; stepfather Paul Alexander; and his sister, Brenda to Germany. He returned to the States and attended Fort Hood High School in Killeen, TX.
Sid likes to tell the story of the Boy Scouts swim meet where he first saw his future wife. He looked up and saw Frankie, who was a grade younger. She was walking up and down the Killeen City Pool. It was Love at first sight. They were married years later, on August 25th, 1962. They were married for 62 years.
Sid graduated from Killeen High School and was very popular. He held the position of President of the Student body and was also the Captain of the Football team.
He received a Full Athletic scholarship to Baylor University. He was very proud to be a Baylor Bear!!
He participated inthe ROTC program at Baylor and upon graduating he entered the Flight Training Program as a commissioned Officer with the United States Airforce at Reece Airforce Base in Lubbock, TX. He completed two tours with the United States Airforce. His final tour was completed at Sheppard Airforce Base in Wichita Falls, TX.
His next venture as pilot was with Continental Airlines based in California at Los Angeles Airport. He was transferred to Houston, TX in 1977. He continued to work for Continental Airlines until he reached the retirement age of 60. He then went to work for the FAA, as an Air Safety Inspector, and later retired from the airline industry.
Sid enjoyed being a father and was proud of his two sons, Scott Alexander and Bo Alexander. Both of his sons were star athletes in football, and Sid and Frankie always attended every game.
Sid loved sports and was an avid bowler and achieved several 300 games. He also enjoyed boating and water skiing with his family. Sid dearly loved the game of golf and his golfing friends at Panorama Golf Club.
Sid is survived by his wife, Frankie, and their two sons, Scott Alexander, Sorrento, FL, and Bo Alexander and his wife Tammy, Conroe, TX; Grandchildren Cody Alexander and wife Brittany, Alpharetta, GA and Cole and Bo Austin, Orlando, FL; and beloved great-grandchildren Peyton, Paxton and Paisley.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 5-8 pm at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Rd., Conroe, TX. Funeral services will commence on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church, 600 N. Main St., Conroe, TX with a graveside service following at 1:00 pm at Garden Park Cemetery, 801 Teas Rd., Conroe, TX.
