He is preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm and Kittie Taylor, his brother, Donald Taylor, and grandson, Christopher Brasher. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bernadine Taylor, his children Sheryl Taylor, Bobby Dean (Robin) Taylor, Terry (Ike) Fluellen, Bobby Taylor, Vicky (Tom) McKenna, Jimmy (Rita) Taylor, and Tommy (Amy) Taylor, his sisters in law Shirley Taylor and Mary Teresa Raia, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born in Palestine, TX on December 29, 1929, Bobby moved to Houston, TX at the age of 9. He attended Milby High School where he was voted Most Popular Student. After high school, he served as a sergeant in the United States Army and completed two tours in the Korean War. Bobby then went on to meet the love of his life, Bernadine Pizzitola, and married her in 1958. He spent his career as a Houston firefighter working his way up to District Chief as he aced test after test. Once he retired, he pursued his passion for travel. He traveled the country in a RV with Bernadine for over 20 years, going to every one of the 50 states in America.
Bobby Taylor was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was the hardest working man you would ever meet and was nicknamed funny Pawpaw because of his wonderful and distinct sense of humor. He was a man of great integrity and respect, and made sure to honor his parents in all he did while they were still alive. He was devoted to his family and wife and always made sure to let them know how much he loved them.
Our family has great comfort and peace knowing that our beloved patriarch is now made whole in Heaven with his savior. During the last part of his life, Bobby Taylor came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He always had a great respect for God but it wasn't until his later years that he came to understand he was a sinner in need of forgiveness and that Jesus Christ was the Son of God. To put it in his own words, "it's a beautiful thing". We rejoice at the peace and comfort he found in the Lord and we do not grieve as those without hope.
"Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him." 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14.
