Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and teacher, Billie Jean left a lasting impression with everyone she encountered. She was the loving oldest sibling of three sisters and two brothers. Billie Jean married the love of her life, Jim Henry, and had children, Jimmy and Cissi. She graduated High School salutatorian, in the top 10% of her college class at Sam Houston State University and earned her Master’s in Education. “Born to Teach”, she was an elementary school teacher for over 28 years, substitute teacher for 10 as well as a private tutor. Billie Jean was “Elementary Teacher of the Year” in 1989. She was a member of the Deborah Sunday School class at First Baptist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teachers Association, and Pan Am Round Table of Conroe. In her spare time, Billie Jean enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader and delighted in making dolls for her grandchildren and friends. After retiring, she began traveling the world visiting at least 13 countries including her favorites England, Ireland, Scotland and Australia with her “traveling buddies” Liz, Jeanette, Bonnie, Peggy, Dorothy and Chelo. She loved spending time playing cards with her 5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by husband of 52 years, Jim Henry Lynch; parents including stepmother, Edna Martin; sisters, Audrey Brookshire, Ginger Lawson and Elizabeth Vyoral; brothers, Robert Martin and James Martin. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Lynch and wife, Kathy; daughter Cissi Scott; daughter-in-law, Kay Lynch; brother-in-law, Bert Lynch and wife Craig; grandchildren, Jenni and Chris Knox, Jerilyn and Brian Huddleston, Kristi and Max Scott, Jayme Lynch, Lindsay and Jake Scott; and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas. The funeral service will be on Saturday, December 1, 2018 beginning at 10:00am at Cashner Funeral Home with the interment immediately following in Garden Park Cemetery.
