Annie Lee Cannon Lewis passed away suddenly on Monday March 30th, 2015 in Conroe, Texas. Born in Asheville, NC on June 3, 1921, to Harry E. and Henrietta Freeman Cannon, Annie Lee grew up in Gainesville, FL with her two brothers Calvert W. Cannon and Harry E Cannon, Jr, all preceding her in death. She earned her Education degree at Florida State College for Women, (Florida State) and was active in Chi Omega sorority. She was a teacher prior to marrying her husband of 63 years, Charles H. Lewis Jr. in June of 1944. Annie Lee’s life was devoted to serving her family, church and community. A lifelong Presbyterian, she served as president of the Women of the Church in DeRidder and Alexandria LA, and as circle leader, wedding coordinator, Deacon and Elder in Conroe. She contributed to community as YWCA President in Alexandria, LA, Chamber of Commerce Secretary in Zachary, LA, and Montgomery County Committee on Aging Secretary starting the Friendship Center. She loved being involved with young people as evidenced in her roles as teacher, scout and brownie leader and most recently with Pan American Round Table. Hobbies included travel, Garden Club, bridge, golf and being with people. For all that she did, she will be forever remembered for who she was … a gracious southern lady who loved deeply and lived her Christian faith with integrity, hospitality and loyalty. She was a blessing to all who knew her. She is survived by son C.H. Lewis III (Buddy) and his wife Dee in Gloster, MS, daughter Lee Lewis Munson and husband Les in San Juan Capistrano, CA, and daughter Mary Etta Lewis Gale and husband Pliny of Coppell, TX. She is also survived by grandchildren CH Lewis IV (Charlie) and Cannon Lewis of McComb, MS, Mary and Annie Lewis of Baton Rouge, LA, Adrienne Lee Munson McRae of Nashville, Cameron Lewis Munson of Laguna Nigel, CA, Pliny Gale IV in Dallas, TX; Katy Gale in Washington, DC and Natalie Gale of Coppell, TX and nine great grandchildren. Viewing for friends and family will be at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX on Thursday, April 2nd from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 3 at 10:00 am at First Presbyterian Church, 2727 N. Loop 336 W., Conroe, TX; burial will be in Gainesville, Florida.
